A glimpse behind the scenes

As already mentioned, high-quality Swiss cherry wood was used for this large order. Cherry wood is a very noble wood and can be processed quite well, which has a very positive effect especially when milling. When manufacturing the shoehorns, it was important that the wood to be processed did not have any blemishes, as otherwise it could break at those points under the strain of use. Attention also had to be paid to the annual ring pattern so that maximum stability could be achieved with the thin cross-section. However, wood is and remains a natural product, and irregularities and characteristics can occur. For the mentioned order, a large quantity of first-class Swiss cherry wood was needed. Procuring the required quality was a challenge. Thanks to our long-standing and very good supplier relationships, however, the necessary quantity could be obtained within a reasonable period of time.

For our small company it was a challenge to handle an order of this size in our production and to accommodate all other orders at the same time. It required a different way of thinking and proceeding in planning and production. Thanks to an excellent communication and collaboration, both internally and externally with customers and partners, we were able to find a solution to complete the job efficiently without delaying other jobs.
