PILOT PROJECT: GUITAR MAKING

Today's article proves that vonrickenbach.swiss AG not only manufactures furniture and furniture components. We also take on unconventional carpentry jobs with enthusiasm, whether knife grips, sales displays or, as in this case, musical instruments.

Pirmin Giger and Silvan Küng at RELISH BROTHERS AG manufacture e-guitars out of wood and aluminium. Their ENTHUSIASTIC FANS include renowned musicians from all over the world: from Joe Bucheli (77 Bombay Street) to Phil Campbell (Motörhead) and Joel van Dijk (Aloe Blacc) – they all rave about the quality and sound of these Swiss guitars.

Up to now, these brothers-by-choice had manufactured their guitar necks at their own workshop. Due to increased demand, they are now looking to outsource some stages of the manufacturing process. Pirmin Giger came to us with his request because we can guarantee high quality and fair prices even for small quantities thanks to our five-axle CNC machines.

We were happy to accept this fascinating challenge involving milling the guitar neck and pegbox geometry to such a degree of precision and quality that very little reworking needs to be carried out by the customer.

Maximum precision pegboxes

The finely milled recesses in the bamboo fingerboard were a test for us and our tools, which we mastered through a great deal of commitment.

Fine cut-outs on bamboo fingerboards

The use of bamboo wood for the fingerboards has been patented by Giger and Küng.

Besides a small series of guitar necks in maple and their fingerboards in bamboo for the top quality JANE MODEL , we were also able to manufacture a small series of guitar bodies in alder wood for the more affordable MARY MODEL . We ensured the desired quality by selecting woods of optimal quality.

We look forward to receiving many other fascinating and inspiring customer requests.
