First anniversary.
We are celebrating an anniversary!
Our combined heat and power unit to produce electrical current and heat from renewable, ecological raw materials has been in operation for precisely 365 days.
The unit, designed and installed by Burkhardt, has been in operation for about 7,900 hours so far, with an output of over 1,200,00 kWh of electrical current during this time. This electricity produced from renewable raw materials is then channelled into the regional network.
We want to celebrate the first successful year since putting this unit into operation. We are taking this opportunity to present the technologically advanced combined heat and power unit, and in particular, the Burkhardt wood gasifier, in greater detail.
ELECTRICAL ENERGY AND HEAT
For a clean environment
Since December 2018, we have operated a combined heat and power unit (CHP) with an output of 260 kW thermal and 165 kW electric energy. Standardised and ecologically produced wood pellets are used as fuel.
We use the wonderful principle of wood pellet gasification, followed by the combustion of the gas via a specially adapted motor which drives a generator and thus produces electricity.
The wood gasification process creates waste heat which can be channelled into our district heating network. About 1,900,000 kWh heat was produced using this gasification process. This corresponds to 160 tonnes or 190,000 litres of heating oil.
SUSTAINABILITY
By using natural resources respectfully, our family company actively contributes to a cleaner environment. We already launched our own district heating network back in the early 1990s. Heat energy produced by using the waste from our solid wood processing, followed by the sustainable production of electricity from natural, renewable raw materials.
